Information for the Admission of New Student for the SY 2017-18


STEPS IN THE ADMISSIONS PROCESS

I. Parents of students who are candidates for grades Nursery – 12 may pick up the admissions packet from the office or download the application packet from the KAS website.  Upon receiving this admissions packet, parents assume responsibility for understanding its content and for completing all its requirements.

II. Parents complete the following paperwork and submit to the Admissions Office.

1. Application Form

2. Academic History (for Grades 9-12 transcripts, report cards, testing results)

3. Copy of Passport or Birth Certificate

4. 2 Passport size photos

5. Confidential Reference Form (Grades 3-12 only)

6. Vaccination Records (Grades Nursery- 5)

7. Medical Questionnaire

III. Once the above paperwork has been received and reviewed, an Application Fee Form will be issued.

IV. Parents pay the application-processing fee in the Accountant’s Office.


Payment should be made at least a day before testing.

This payment is non-refundable.  It does not guarantee admission to KAS. The receipt of payment must be presented to the Admissions Coordinator in order for the admissions process to continue or for the testing to begin.

V. The Admission Test is administered without the presence of parents. (Grades 3-10)

VI. The Admissions Committee members may review applications.

VII. The Superintendent finalizes all enrollment decisions.

THE ADMISSION OF NEW STUDENTS IS PERMITTED ON A SPACE AVAILABILITY BASIS AS STIPULATED IN BOARD POLICY.

TUITION COLLECTION:

1- Foreigners & Expatriates

Tuition payment is in USD only. Payments may be made as
follows:

a- USD check from a local bank in Khartoum or US based checking account

b- Transfer to the school’s accounts in Washington, D.C.

c- USD Cash

2- Existing Sudanese families at KAS (including future child enrollment) may elect to pay in SDG at the commercial selling bank rate plus a 15% administration fee.  All SDG payments are to be made via check.  Cash will not be accepted.

3- All new students are considered USD payers, regardless of nationality.

TUITION FINANCING:

1. An installment-financing fee of 10% will be billed on outstanding amounts after December 31st.

2. All installment plans are to be guaranteed by post-dated checks. Adjustments may be made to checks issued depending on changes, if any,  to the commercial selling bank rate.

3. Installment Options:

a.  10 Month Installment Plan

-   25% deposit in April

-   10 payments dated August 1st through May 1st

b. 12 Month Installment Plan

-   25% deposit in April 1st

-   12 checks dated June 1st through May 1st

c.  All checks issued as of January 1st will include the 10% financing fee mentioned in item 1 above.

4. Bounced/Returned check penalty (for insufficient funds):  10% of the check amount

NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT:

A non-refundable deposit equal to 25% of the tuition fees is required to reserve a place in the school.


REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT FOR EXPATS ONLY:

25% deposit paid in April is fully refundable for all expats under the condition of termination/transfer of employment contract.

CAPITAL FEE:

The annual capital fee is payable by all enrollees. This fee funds ongoing facility and program improvements.

Refunds:

Refunds after the beginning of the school year (only on Tuition Fees):

Withdrawal during the first quarter:  70% of annual tuition will be returned.

Withdrawal during the second quarter:  40% of the annual tuition will be returned.

Withdrawal during the third quarter:  15% of the annual tuition will be returned.

Withdrawal during the fourth quarter:  No tuition will be returned.
